Welcome to Project Evolve. We are a brand new nonprofit organization that has one simple mission: To reduce the impact of humans on our environment through education and awareness. Technology will be at the heart of our operations so you can see that it is possible to keep your relationship with technology and be green at the same time. We will use this website as a "home" to our organization until we are able to build our community center.
About Us
Ivan Johannes is the founder of Project Evolve. His inspiration started with the idea to create a video campaign to spread awareness of the effects humans are having on the Earth. That idea has evolved into what you are seeing today, a nonprofit organization. He wanted to merge his love of technology and his desire to teach in a powerful way so he could make a difference. Ivan's goal is to keep up with technology while still remaining green and to share his findings with the community.
Ivan has a substantial history with volunteer and charity work. While working at Tijuana Flats Burrito Company, he had the opportunity to donate to the Just in Queso Foundation. He went above and beyond not just donating money from his paychecks, but also donating his time to help wrap presents for needy children to working with Habitat for Humanity. Currently, Ivan is a student at SSC(Seminole State College) and is studying science and environmental studies. He is working towards his A.S.
Then he met Margaret...
Margaret Joyner is the co-founder of Project Evolve. Her drive comes from a childhood longing to preserve the environment. She has over 10 years of experience in working with animals. Her jobs included veterinary technician, avian caretaker, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation. While in fourth grade, she helped raise money for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to preserve over 60 acres of the Amazon Rainforest. Also, later in life, she spent some time providing over six months of free work to the owner of Feather River Ranch Rescue while the owner recovered from triple by-pass heart surgery. There, she cleaned the cages, feed and provided companionship to over 60 rescued birds at the facility. She is also currently a student at SSC (Seminole State College) and is also studying science and the environment (A.S.) Margaret's goal is to teach people skills that have been forgotten but have been around for ages, so that as a species, we do not fail ourselves when the time comes.
Ivan and Margaret met at Tijuana Flats and the green sparks flew right away! They talked about Project Evolve for almost a year before arriving at what it is today. They are even more excited about what is to come! Along this journey, Ivan and Margaret have come across information that
they see as crucial and both agree that with great knowledge comes great
responsibility. And so, Project Evolve is born. We will utilize this website as a tool to share the knowledge we come across and will make it a priority to post all progress that Project Evolve has accomplished through their work onto the site. This is just the beginning...![]()
***Ivan and Margaret have decided to green their home, given its a rental, but none the less, green it will become! They have decided to build a greenhouse in their backyard. It will be completely removable upon moving. They will be growing fruits and vegetables organically. They will be using recycled materials whenever possible. They also already have a small compost pile started, complete with worms! They plan to build their own solar panels and a wind turbine or two, all removable. They will plant some plants near the windows to help shade their home. Those will stay. They have a tight budget to work with so updates will be available in the coming months to show how easy and cheap it is to go green!
